Band Weaving Workshops

The journey of hand band weaving from its European roots to its near extinction during the era of industrialization, followed by a revitalization in the 20th century, underscores the resilience of traditional crafts. Figures like Mary Meigs Atwater played crucial roles in preserving and promoting these techniques, bridging the past with contemporary approaches to weaving. Today, hand band weaving continues to be appreciated not only for its aesthetic qualities but also as a means of connecting with history and cultural identity.
